Andrea Francalanci is a freelance researcher of the theory and the performance of early dance. A graduate of the University of Florence with a thesis on Italian 15th-century dance, he also holds the Diploma in Early Dance of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. For several years he has been in charge of teaching Italian Renaissance Dance at the Sorbonne in Paris, as well as being a guest teacher in the most important European centres for early dance. As Artistic Director of the early dance group Il Ballarino he has choreographed many ballets for operas, historical reconstructions and new productions.
