Warwick Edwards, since 1976 SEMC's musical director, became hooked on medieval and renaissance music, and much more besides, while a student at Cambridge University. There he started to play numerous early instruments at the same time as embarking on a PhD about Elizabethan consort music. Since 1971 he has combined his research and performing interests with teaching at Glasgow University where he is Senior Lecturer in Music. He has an established reputation as an editor of early music, is a contributor to the New Grove Dictionary of Music, has written many articles and reviews, and devised dozens of programmes of early music.
