  Eleanor Bennett was born in Glasgow and studied at the RSAMD where she won many prizes. In 1983 Eleanor joined Scottish Opera to sing Bellezza in L'Egisto. In 1984-85 season she sang Mercedes in Scottish Opera's Opera-go-round. In 1986 she joined the Glyndebourne Chorus and sang several roles with the Glyndebourne Touring Company, including Annina in La Traviata and Feklusa in Katya Kabanova. In 1980 she joined Opera 80 to sing Valencienne in The Merry Widow, and this season she sang Mrs Herring in Albert Herring with the same company. She has appeared frequently with SEMC, including the role of Colpa in the 1990 Glasgow Intemational Early Music Festival production of La Vita Humana. Future engagements include Despina in Così fan tutte with Opera 80.
