Jill Feldman Described by "The Guardian" as 'a singer with a big future', Jill Feldman is rapidly establishing herself as a leading soprano in the field of baroque and classical performance. Born in America but now living in Paris, she has appeared with many of today's most important Early Music ensembles including Les Arts Florissants, Concerto Vocale and the Taverner Consort, working with distinguished directors such as William Christie, René Jacobs and Andrew Parrot. She is also increasingly in demand on the concert platform and in opera, and has appeared with the Paris Opera and the Opéra Comique. In this country she has performed at BBC Promenade Concerts and at the Edinburgh and Bath Festivals, and is heard frequently on BBC Radio 3. Among her many recordings is the title-role in Charpentier Medée, which won both the Early Music Section of the Gramophone Record Awards 1985 and the Grand Prix du Disque de Montreux. Her latest recordings are Handel's Carmelite Vespers with Andrew Parrot and the Taverner Consort, and Handel's Susanna with Nicholas McVegan and the Philarmonia. She has recently done a series of duo recitals with countertenor James Bowman and the Academy of Ancient Music, and solo recitals with harpsichordist Davitt Moroney and theorbist Nigel North, with whom she has recently recorded a disk of Italian monody for Linn records (Glasgow). Forthcoming engagements include a tour of Haydn's Creation with Frans Bruggen.
