Lorna Anderson was born in Glasgow and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and at the Royal College of Music, winning many prizes including most distinguished student of the year at both institutions. In 1984 she won the Peter Pears and Royal Overseas League competitions, and two years later the coveted Purcell-Britten Prize. Her repertoire is extensive and, since leaving college in 1985 she was worked all over Europe as well in this country, singing with groups such as the Hannover Band, the Bach Choir, the Songmaker's Almanach, the Hilliard Ensemble, the Scottish National and Chamber Orchestras, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment il their recent Haydn series on the London Classical Players under Roger Norrington in their performance of 'The Magic Flute'. She works regulary in Paris, most recently with Pierre Boulez and the Ensemble Intercontemporain on Stravinsky's 'Les Noces". Future plans include a recording of Purcell's 'The Faery Queen' and a recital of Poulenc and Debussy as part of Malcolm Martinau's series at St John's Smith Square in London.
